Get in the Game with Independent Accelerated Reader!

1022008_75600_1Students at LPA in grades 1-8 can participate in the Independent Accelerated Reading Program. Participating students will set AR Reading goals (to be approved by classroom teacher.) Goals that students set with their teachers will be based on a number of books read and quizzes taken. Students will be given an AR level range by their classroom teacher or MS Language Arts teacher for books that they should choose for AR that are appropriate for their reading and interest level. Rewards and opportunities will be given to students who choose to participate in this extension reading program. Books for AR may come from the LPA Library Media Center, from home or the public library. By selecting the first link below students, parents or teachers may search for books to see if it’s an AR book and also to see its level and point possibility. Accelerated Reader Book Finder Students must take all AR quizzes while at school. Below is the link to the AR quizzes: Accelerated Reader Login Parents can access their child’s Accelerated Reading information at: Home Connect LPA students in grades 1-8 will be able to use a computer software program called Renaissance Place, Accelerated Reader at school for this independent and incentive reading purpose. This program has a special feature called Home Connect. Home Connect is a fun, easy-to-use, easy-to-understandweb-based interface that allows your child, you as the parent, or classroom teacher to share in this educational experience by viewing progress in the Accelerated Reading program while outside of school. You can view Home Connect from any computer with an Internet connection using these browsers:• Internet Explorer® 6.02 or later• Firefox® 1.5 or later• Safari™ 2.0.3 or later Ask your child for his or her user name and password to be able to access his or her records. To log in to Home Connect Web site: A link is also availabe from the Media Center Web site (above). In Home Connect you can also Click Email Setup to sign up to receive emails showing your student’s quiz or test results. Click Help to get answers to your questions about Home Connect. Parent or guardians may specify up to six email addresses to receive updates of student progress via email. The recipient must accept the invitation for the notifications to begin. Emails will be sent automatically by the program and will contain results of any Accelerated Reader quizzes the student completes.
