LPA 2013 Summer Reading for Upcoming K-2 Students

LPA 2013 Summer Reading

Upcoming K-2 Students

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Rising K-2 LPA Students are encouraged to participate in our Summer Reading Incentive Program. “Research shows that children who do not continue reading through the summer can lose a month or more of progress made during the school year. By encouraging their children to read, parents are playing a critical role in achieving our goal of having every child reading at or above grade level by 2013. Keep your children engaged in reading!” ~from www.justreadfamilies.org

Here at LPA we ask that each student read or be read to for 60-120 minutes per week over the summer. Students will receive incentive rewards by participating in the 2013 Summer Reading Reward Plan.  Please review the LPA Summer Reading Reward Plan guidelines.  Students will need to complete an LPA reading packet and return to their new teacher by Friday, August 23, 2013 to receive their incentive rewards. Students may choose books from the LPA recommended grade level summer reading book lists or other interesting titles to stay actively engaged in reading over the summer vacation. Remember to log your minutes for Scholastic’s “Read for the World Record.”

Students going into grade 2 may come to the 9th Grade Center at Bartram Trail High School on the following days/times to take AR tests over the summer:
